![]() ![]() I originally planned four chapters to set up the plot, but I couldn’t take the cheating aspect and Ella’s cold personality for long, so I kept it down to two chapters. Jake’s desire to rescue Ella from an abusive relationship also comes from the knight-in-shining-armor complex-the desire to save the damsel in distress. An obsession doesn’t necessarily mean love. ![]() No question he had fallen under Ella’s spell. Many will question Jake’s decision to take up with a cheating woman. Will she be able to enjoy vanilla sex again? The sub-plot in the story was Jake freeing Ella’s “true self” from the bonds of psychological trauma. ![]() I wanted to write about reverse masochism. Why not write something opposite? This book was not about the lifestyle, but more about the psychology of sadism and masochism. I also wanted to go against the tide of BDSM books. I need romance, but I’m not above starting a story based on physical attraction and questionable moral actions. But I knew even before I wrote that first word, writing unlikable characters will not sustain my interest level. ![]() The idea for Deadly Obsession was borne from my desire to pen an erotic thriller that didn’t necessarily include romance-a plot stemming from pure lust and selfishness. When I decided to take a break from writing military romance, this included shying away from the usual explosions and gunfights. Also, you might get answers to lingering questions.
